Holocaust by bullets in figures

After establishing a ghetto in early March 1942, the Germans decided five months later to liquidate the Jews. During the night of August 8, 1942, Ukrainian police surrounded the ghetto and shot 11 Jews who tried to escape. Five days later, the Security Police and the SD from Rowne with the assistance of the German Gendarmerie and the Ukrainian police, gathered the Jews near the synagogue. The Jews were taken in columns to the Christian Cemetery where they were shot. Altogether, 1,792 Jews were killed.
